The Winnipeg Jets have recalled defense prospect Alfons Freij from his loan to Timrå IK in the Swedish Hockey League, sending him to AHL Manitoba to conclude the season. The 20-year-old, a second-round pick in 2024, had a successful season with six goals and 11 points in 42 games, along with a solid performance at the World Juniors. Freij, known for his skating ability, is anticipated to rise in the Jets’ prospect rankings after a productive year in Europe. Despite concerns about Manitoba’s development environment, Freij arrives as a more polished player compared to other recent draftees.
