Morocco was awarded the Africa Cup of Nations title after appeals judges overturned Senegal’s victory in a chaotic final held in January. The Confederation of African Football declared Senegal to have forfeited the match, changing the result from a 1-0 win for Senegal to a 3-0 default win for Morocco. The final was marred by Senegal’s protest, which led to a 15-minute stoppage, and a penalty awarded to Morocco that was ultimately missed. The case may be further appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
