The Calgary Flames fell 3–2 to the New York Islanders after a rough first period where the Islanders scored three goals, including a shorthanded goal by Jean-Gabriel Pageau. The Flames shifted momentum in the second period with goalie Dustin Wolf, but it wasn’t until the third that Mikael Backlund and Blake Coleman scored, narrowing the deficit. Despite a strong push for an equalizer, Calgary couldn’t complete the comeback. Backlund’s goal marked his 230th career goal, placing him fourth on Calgary’s all-time list.
