Devin Williams pitched a perfect fifth inning with two strikeouts in the Mets’ 9-0 exhibition win over the Marlins, marking his second consecutive scoreless outing after initially allowing a homer on his first pitch. Catcher Ben Rortvedt made an error while attempting to throw out Connor Norby, who reached third base. Zach Thornton, a minor league loaner, impressed with three scoreless innings, yielding two hits and striking out three. On Tuesday, David Peterson is set to face the Cardinals in Port St. Lucie.
