Veteran linebacker Jahlani Tavai has been released by the New England Patriots ahead of free agency, as reported by Albert Breer. Tavai, 29, was originally drafted by the Detroit Lions in 2019 and joined the Patriots’ practice squad in 2021, later earning a two-year extension in 2022 and a three-year deal before the 2024 season. In 2025, he played 12 games, recording 42 tackles and one forced fumble. His release marks a significant change for the Patriots’ defense.
