São Paulo has swiftly moved to appoint Roger Machado as their new coach following the dismissal of Hernán Crespo. The 51-year-old, who has been without a job since leaving Internacional in September 2025, will sign a contract lasting until the end of 2026. Despite fan opposition, the decision was backed by football executive Rui Costa, and Machado is expected to lead his first training session on Tuesday ahead of the match against Chapecoense on Thursday. Currently, São Paulo sits as the runner-up in the Brasileirão 2026 with 10 points.
