The Houston Texans have released veteran running back Joe Mixon, as reported by Adam Schefter. This move will save the team $8 million in cap space while incurring $2 million in dead money. Mixon had requested his release after spending the previous season on the non-football injury list due to a foot/ankle injury. The 29-year-old, who had a productive 2024 season with 1,016 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns, was originally traded to the Texans from the Bengals earlier this year.
