The 50th Winter Paralympics in Milan Cortina will see China aiming to maintain its dominance, while Ukraine and several other nations boycott the opening ceremony due to the return of the Russian flag and anthem. Amid geopolitical tensions and travel disruptions, nearly 660 athletes will compete from March 8 to 15, with the U.S. sending a 72-member team. Russian athletes will compete under their flag for the first time since 2014, prompting Ukraine’s withdrawal from official events. China, aiming to enhance its status in Paralympic sports, sends its largest overseas delegation of 70 athletes, following a record performance at the Beijing Games.
