The New England Patriots have decided not to place a restricted free-agent tender on cornerback Alex Austin, as reported by Jordan Schultz. Austin, a 24-year-old former seventh-round pick by the Buffalo Bills in the 2023 NFL Draft, has experience as a core special-teamer and depth in defensive roles. He has played three games for the Texans and five for the Patriots in 2025, recording nine tackles, one interception, and two pass defenses. Austin was previously waived by the Bills and Texans before signing with New England in November 2023.
