Reds ace Hunter Greene is set for an MRI due to stiffness in his right elbow, a condition he attributes to an issue from late last season. Although his ulnar collateral ligament was intact at a recent check, Greene’s injury history raises concerns about his availability for the season’s start. The Reds may face challenges in their rotation without him, but president of baseball operations Nick Krall indicated no plans to pursue free agents for depth. Greene is in the fourth year of a six-year, $53MM extension.
