Shohei Ohtani has officially joined Team Japan for the World Baseball Classic (WBC) as they aim for a second consecutive title. He arrived at Vantelin Dome Nagoya after spring training and participated in warm-up activities, although he is not expected to pitch in the tournament starting March 6. Team Japan, featuring stars like Masataka Yoshida and Seiya Suzuki, will play against Chinese Taipei in their opener. The U.S. team, including Ohtani’s friends Clayton Kershaw and Will Smith, will also begin play on March 6.
