American skier Lindsey Vonn revealed that she nearly lost her left leg following a serious crash during the women’s downhill at the Milan Cortina Olympics. Initially suffering a complex tibia fracture, she developed compartment syndrome due to excessive pressure in her leg, requiring a life-saving fasciotomy performed by Dr. Tom Hackett. Vonn, who was already recovering from an ACL tear prior to the Olympics, also sustained a broken right ankle in the incident. She has since been discharged from the hospital.
