Benfica’s Gianluca Prestianni has been provisionally suspended by UEFA due to accusations of directing a racist slur at Real Madrid’s Vinícius Júnior during a match, which was paused as officials implemented anti-racism protocols. Following the incident, Vinícius Jr. condemned racism, while Prestianni denied using racist language but admitted to using an anti-gay slur. Benfica plans to appeal the suspension, which will not be resolved before their upcoming game against Real Madrid. If found guilty of racism, Prestianni could face a 10-game suspension.
