Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are named in a lawsuit by 1587 Sneakers for alleged trademark infringement concerning their restaurant, 1587 Prime. Filed on Feb. 17 in New York, the suit claims the steakhouse harms the sneaker company’s business, which began selling products in April 2023. 1587 Sneakers, which has a pending trademark application, seeks to stop the restaurant from using the name and is pursuing punitive damages, citing consumer confusion. Trademark attorney Josh Gerben notes that coexistence of similar trademarks can be complex, especially in different industries.
