At the Milan Cortina Olympics in Livigno, Italian freeskiers Simone Deromedis and Federico Tomasoni secured gold and silver in the men’s skicross final, boosting Italy’s medal count to 29, including 10 golds. Deromedis, who dominated the final, celebrated Italy’s first freeski gold, while Tomasoni edged out Switzerland’s Alex Fiva for silver. The challenging snowy conditions, described as some of the worst by Fiva, did not deter the athletes. The event showcased Italy’s strong performance in winter sports, with freeski and snowboarding events contributing significantly to the medal haul.
