Nasa Hataoka shot a 7-under 65 to tie for the lead after the first round of the LPGA Thailand at Siam Country Club, alongside Thailand’s Chanettee Wannasaen. Gemma Dryburgh was a stroke behind with a 66, tied with Somi Lee and Hye-Jin Choi. Top-ranked Jeeno Thitikul and Lydia Ko shot 67s, while defending champion Angel Yin posted a 69. Nelly Korda, who won the season-opening Tournament of Champions, is absent from this tournament and the following events in Asia.
