The Cubs have hired Dixon Machado to manage their Arizona Complex League affiliate, marking the end of his 17-year playing career. The Venezuelan infielder played nearly 1,300 minor league games, had a four-year stint with the Tigers in MLB, and spent time in Korea with the Lotte Giants. After a brief return to the majors with the Giants in 2022, he opted for coaching instead of pursuing more minor league contracts. Machado, who batted .226 in the majors and .279 in the KBO, will mentor a rookie team primarily made up of Latin American players.
