The San Jose Sharks have mutually agreed to terminate veteran forward Jeff Skinner’s NHL contract, as announced by general manager Mike Grier. Skinner, a two-time All-Star, was placed on unconditional waivers on Monday, allowing him to become an unrestricted free agent after a disappointing season where he recorded six goals and 13 points in 32 games. The Sharks, currently focused on securing a playoff spot, will now rely on younger players like Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith. The team had signed Skinner to a one-year, $3 million deal in July, but it did not pan out as expected.
