Ukrainian skeleton racer Vladyslav Heraskevych returned to Kyiv after being disqualified from the Milan Cortina Olympics for refusing to remove a helmet honoring athletes killed in the war. Despite power and heating disruptions in his capital, he expressed pride in his decision, using his platform to raise funds for the victims’ families. Heraskevych criticized the IOC’s inconsistent enforcement of rules and discussed potential aid for Ukraine with IOC President Kirsty Coventry. He remains resolute, stating that the portraits on his helmet represent countless friends lost during the conflict.
