Today, the Utah Mammoth announced the recall of Daniil But, Ben McCartney, Dmitri Simashev, Matt Villalta, and Maveric Lamoureux from the AHL’s Tucson Roadrunners as NHL teams resume practice post-Olympics. But, Simashev, and Lamoureux are notable first-round picks, with But contributing 17 points in 20 AHL games this season. Simashev, the sixth overall pick in 2023, has excelled in North America, while McCartney leads Tucson with 46 points. Villalta, a 26-year-old goaltender, serves as an extra body in practice, as the Mammoth assess their roster options before their next game on February 25 against Colorado.
