Enrique Hernandez had a torn muscle in his left arm during the 2025 season and underwent surgery in November, with recovery estimates ranging from one to two months, though Dodgers GM Brandon Gomes suggested a midseason return. Despite his injury, the Dodgers re-signed him to a one-year, $4.5MM deal, hoping he might return before the first two months of the season. Meanwhile, Evan Phillips, recovering from Tommy John surgery, is expected back around late July after re-signing for $6.5MM, while newly acquired closer Edwin Diaz signed a record three-year, $69MM deal with the Dodgers after leaving the Mets. Diaz noted he appreciated the Dodgers’ recruitment, while Mets owner Steve Cohen expressed confusion over his decision to leave.
