Elroy Face, a 97-year-old All-Star reliever for the Pittsburgh Pirates, passed away at an independent senior living facility outside Pittsburgh. Face was instrumental in the Pirates’ 1960 World Series win against the New York Yankees, saving three games and earning the nickname “Baron of the Bullpen.” Over his 16-season career, he recorded 191 saves and holds the National League record for wins in relief. He is survived by three children and was inducted into the Pirates Hall of Fame in 2023.
