The Marlins have designated left-hander Josh Simpson for assignment to make room for newly signed southpaw John King. Simpson, who debuted in June, struggled with a 7.34 ERA over 31 games, facing control issues with a 15% walk rate. Despite a strong performance in Triple-A last year, he was previously sidelined by a nerve injury and is expected to be placed on waivers soon. If unclaimed, he can opt for free agency.
