The Pittsburgh Pirates announced the passing of former All-Star reliever Elroy Face at age 97. A crucial player in the Pirates’ 1960 World Series victory, Face led the league in appearances and saves during his career, accumulating 802 pitching appearances and 186 saves, making him the franchise leader in several categories. Known as the “Baron of the Bullpen,” he was inducted into the Pirates Hall of Fame three years ago. The organization expressed condolences to his family, including his three children and sister.
