Pillippe Aumont Returns to Baseball
Right-handed pitcher Phillippe Aumont, who retired from baseball in 2020 to pursue farming, has signed a minor-league deal with the Toronto Blue Jays, marking his return to the sport after 11 years. The 37-year-old from Quebec, who previously played for the Phillies, will also compete for Team Canada in the World Baseball Classic. Aumont, once a promising prospect drafted 11th overall in 2007, aims to provide depth for the injury-stricken Blue Jays pitching staff. Despite his long absence, he showcased his skills during the WBC, reaching 92 mph with his fastball.
