Phillies Position Players’ Workout
As the Phillies prepare for their first official workout next Monday, Nick Castellanos remains on the trading block, with President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski indicating a need for a change of scenery for the outfielder. Castellanos, entering his age-34 season, had a disappointing 2023 with a .250 average and is seen as a liability defensively. The Phillies aim to trade him before Spring Training to avoid distractions, with potential suitors like the Padres, Guardians, Marlins, and Tigers interested in his bat. Despite not netting notable prospects, the team hopes to offload some of his $20MM salary, as a release would leave them responsible for most of it.
