Mark McGwire, the former Oakland Athletics slugger and Hall of Famer, has returned to the team as a special assistant to player development. McGwire, who spent 12 seasons with the A’s and was part of the iconic “Bash Brothers” duo with Jose Canseco, won the 1987 AL Rookie of the Year and helped the team secure three consecutive AL pennants from 1988-90. Despite his Hall of Fame exclusion due to steroid ties, he was inducted into the A’s Hall of Fame in 2019. The A’s are currently in Sacramento and plan to move to Las Vegas by the 2028 season.
