After months of speculation, third baseman Nolan Arenado has been traded from the St. Louis Cardinals to the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for minor league pitcher Jack Martinez. Arenado waived his no-trade clause to facilitate the move, which sees him return to the National League West, where he previously played for the Colorado Rockies. He is owed $42 million over the next two seasons, with the Cardinals covering $31 million of that amount.
