The Arizona Diamondbacks traded for eight-time All-Star third baseman Nolan Arenado from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for minor league pitcher Jack Martinez, with the Cardinals also contributing $31 million to the deal. Arenado, a 10-time Gold Glove winner, batted .237 with 12 homers last season and has two years remaining on his contract worth $42 million. Cardinals president Chaim Bloom expressed gratitude for Arenado’s contributions while highlighting the potential for their younger players. Martinez, an eighth-round pick from Arizona State in 2025, will join the Cardinals’ organization as part of the trade.
