Pepe Mel, former coach of Las Palmas, recently revealed that Real Madrid had considered signing Barcelona superstar Pedri during his early career but ultimately decided against it, deeming him “not a player for Real Madrid.” Mel, who played a crucial role in Pedri’s rise, shared this insight in an interview, noting that he even spoke with Madrid chairman Emilio Butragueno. Pedri joined Barcelona in 2019 and has since become one of the world’s top midfielders, breaking records along the way. Mel is now the head coach of Moroccan club Ittihad Tangier.
