The Reds are acquiring outfielder Dane Myers from the Marlins in exchange for outfield prospect Ethan O’Donnell, with the Reds designating right-hander Lyon Richardson for assignment. Myers, 29, was originally drafted as a pitcher but transitioned to hitting in 2019, making his MLB debut with Miami in July 2023. Over 172 games from 2023-25, he has a batting line of .245/.299/.354 with a 25.8% strikeout rate. The Marlins have confirmed the trade, and their 40-man roster now has 39 spots, allowing for the addition of Pete Fairbanks.
