The New York Islanders have placed goaltender Ilya Sorokin on injured reserve retroactive to December 20 due to an undisclosed injury, which has sidelined him for two games. In his absence, Marcus Hogberg has been recalled on an emergency basis, as the team maintains a full roster of 23 players. Sorokin, who boasts a 2.55 GAA and .910 SV% this season, is expected to travel with the team for their game against Columbus, where David Rittich will start. Sorokin can be activated if he is fit to back up, having met the seven-day minimum requirement for injured reserve.
