The Texas Rangers have signed infielder Andrew Velazquez to a minor league deal, which includes an invitation to MLB Spring Training. The 31-year-old, who played in the Yankees organization last season, is known for his speed, having stolen 58 bases in the past two years at Triple-A. Velazquez, primarily a shortstop but versatile across the infield and outfield, has struggled offensively in the majors, recording a 48 wRC+ in 624 plate appearances. With injury concerns surrounding Corey Seager and Josh Jung, he could provide valuable infield depth for Texas.
