Lakers guard Marcus Smart has been fined $35,000 for an obscene gesture directed at a game official during halftime of Thursday’s game against the Utah Jazz, where he received a technical foul. Despite this incident, Smart contributed to the Lakers’ 143-135 victory, scoring 17 points, including three crucial three-pointers in the fourth quarter. He is averaging 10.6 points this season and will start against the Clippers on Saturday night in place of the injured Austin Reaves.
