In the 2025-26 NBA season, the Knicks, under coach Mike Brown, are significantly shifting their offensive approach, moving away from relying heavily on Jalen Brunson. While last season Brunson had a high isolation rate and held the ball for extended periods, this year he is operating more off the ball, resulting in better shot efficiency and a higher volume of passes. His usage rate has increased slightly, but his time with the ball and isolation plays have decreased, enabling him to receive better looks through off-ball movement. This strategy aims to make the Knicks offense more dynamic and effective during playoffs, as opponents previously exploited Brunson’s ball dominance.
