The Texas Rangers have signed left-handed pitcher Anthony Veneziano to a minor league deal, which includes an invitation to spring training. The 28-year-old, who has pitched for the Royals, Marlins, and Cardinals, has a career ERA of 3.98 over 40 2/3 innings in the majors. Veneziano, primarily a bullpen pitcher now, recently improved his ground ball rate significantly with the addition of a sinker. If he secures a 40-man roster spot, he can be optioned to Triple-A, providing the Rangers with a cost-effective lefty option.
