The Chicago Cubs have promoted Tyler Zombro to vice president of pitching after he declined an interview with the Nationals for their major league pitching coach position. Zombro, who joined the Cubs as a special assistant to president Jed Hoyer last season, will oversee scouting, coaching, and player development. A former minor league pitcher, Zombro overcame a severe head injury in 2021 and contributed to the Cubs’ bullpen success last season, notably with the addition of Brad Keller. This promotion follows the departure of director of pitching Ryan Otero to the Red Sox.
