The San Diego Padres have hired Craig Stammen as their new manager on a three-year contract following Mike Shildt’s unexpected retirement in mid-October. Stammen, a former reliever with the Padres from 2017-22 and a 13-year MLB veteran, previously served as a special assistant to the team’s president of baseball operations.
