At 34, Root becomes the oldest player to lead the rankings since 2014, marking his eighth tenure as the No.1 ranked Test batter and moving past Rahul Dravid with his 37th Test hundred. In other rankings, Steve Smith rose to fourth, Cameron Green surged to 29th, while Indian players Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, and Shubman Gill dropped in the rankings after the match at Lord’s.
