The Ottawa Senators have signed defenceman Lassi Thomson to a one-year, two-way contract valued at $775,000 in the NHL and $300,000 in the AHL. Thomson, a first-round pick (19th overall) in the 2019 NHL Draft, played last season with the Malmö Redhawks, scoring 17 goals and 29 points in 50 games. His signing offers depth and insurance for the team, especially with veteran Nick Jensen recovering from hip surgery, while also allowing for a measured approach with rookie Carter Yakemchuk as they head into training camp.
