Veteran righty José Ureña has elected free agency after going unclaimed on waivers following his designation for assignment by the Dodgers. Ureña made two appearances for L.A. after signing on June 3, allowing one run over three innings while striking out two and walking one. This season, he has played for three MLB teams, including the Mets and Blue Jays, accumulating a 5.40 ERA in 18 1/3 innings, and previously held a spot on the Texas pitching staff, posting a 3.80 ERA over 109 innings in 2024.
