Bethany Donaphin, head of league operations for the WNBA, recalls her bold choice as a girl playing basketball in 1990s New York City, a sentiment shared by many WNBA players. In response to the historical underrepresentation of women in outdoor basketball, the WNBA is launching the “Line ‘Em Up” initiative, which will paint official WNBA three-point lines on outdoor courts nationwide, starting in New York and Indianapolis. The campaign, aimed at empowering young women in basketball, will also feature a film by director Iris Kim showcasing iconic outdoor parks and highlighting the need for representation in these spaces.
