The Angels have signed outfielder Ben Gamel to a minor league deal, assigning him to Triple-A Salt Lake after he was released by the Tigers. Gamel, 33, has a nine-season MLB career, debuting with the Yankees in 2016 and becoming a journeyman, playing for five teams since 2021 while hitting a league-average .239/.338/.372. Although his path to the majors may be complicated by the Angels’ recent trade for LaMonte Wade Jr., Gamel has consistently performed as an average player and aims to return to the big leagues if healthy.
