The Memphis Grizzlies announced that starting center Zach Edey has re-sprained his left ankle during an off-season workout and will require surgery for stabilization, which may cause him to miss the start of the NBA season. Edey, who faced previous ankle issues last season, started 55 games and averaged 9.2 points and 8.3 rebounds, earning First Team All-Rookie honors. With Edey’s absence, Memphis may consider signing an additional center to bolster their roster, as they prefer to keep Jaren Jackson Jr. at power forward.
