The Mets are set to call up Ronny Mauricio for Tuesday’s game against the Dodgers, following Mark Vientos‘ hamstring injury, which is likely to place him on the IL. Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns noted Mauricio’s impressive performance in Triple-A Syracuse, where he slashed .515/.564/.818 with three home runs and four stolen bases in just nine games. As Mauricio, 24, is versatile in the infield, he is expected to receive regular playing time, potentially at designated hitter, to boost the Mets’ offense.
