After safely reaching third base on a double by Alejandro Kirk, Springer began hopping on the bag, which led to Athletics’ third baseman Max Schuemann tagging him during his jump. The Athletics challenged the play, resulting in the confirmation that Schuemann’s tag was applied while Springer was airborne, ending the inning and halting a Blue Jays rally.
