Panthers GM Dan Morgan was determined to select WR Tetaioa McMillan with the eighth overall pick but considered trading with the Rams, who were also interested in McMillan. Morgan sought a “load of picks” in negotiations with the Rams, which they declined, leaving him content as he preferred to keep McMillan. The Panthers ultimately drafted McMillan, who had a successful college career, signing him to a four-year contract worth nearly $28 million, including a significant signing bonus.
