The Giants signed first-round edge rusher Abdul Carter to a fully guaranteed four-year contract worth $45.3 million, necessitating a cap space adjustment. To accommodate this, they restructured Brian Burns’ contract, converting $10 million of his base salary into a signing bonus, thus freeing up enough space for Carter’s signing. Acquired from the Panthers last year with a five-year, $141 million deal, Burns had a successful first season with 71 tackles and 8.5 sacks, and now he will pair with Carter to enhance the Giants’ pass rush.
