The Mets have released outfielder Billy McKinney from his minor league contract after he struggled at their Syracuse affiliate, posting a .184/.285/.307 slash line in 33 games. McKinney, a former top-100 prospect drafted 24th overall by Oakland in 2013, was involved in significant trades, including those that sent him to the Cubs and Yankees. Despite a brief resurgence with the Yankees in 2023, his inconsistent performance across multiple teams led to his release, and he will now seek a new opportunity in free agency.
