The Chicago Cubs are recalling their top position player prospect, third baseman Matt Shaw, from Triple-A Iowa as they embark on a six-game road trip. After struggling with a .172 average in his initial MLB stint, Shaw made adjustments to his swing and excelled in the minors, posting a .286 average with 6 home runs in 24 games. His promotion comes as the Cubs seek to improve their third-base production, currently the lowest in MLB, and will likely result in the demotion of defensive specialist Nicky Lopez, who did not travel with the team.
